For the second year in a row, the Radio Cascadia crew are privileged enough to be previewing an MLS Cup Final. This year it's Seattle and Toronto, live from BMO Field on Saturday night at 5pm PST. Sounders will look to cap off their remarkable 2016 turnaround with their first postseason crown. We break the match down unit by unit, and forecast who has the edge in what could be the first-ever snowy MLS Cup!

Not to forget the rest of Cascadia, we begin Ep. 95 with a discussion on Vancouver's preseason plans, and another on the new roster rules affecting Canadian players unveiled recently by MLS. Portland dropped their preseason schedule, too, and we analyze it as well. We forget to mention how awesome the new home kit looks, so we'll have to save that for next week.

For now, the focus is on keeping the biggest prize in American soccer right here in Cascadia!

Just in time for the Western Conference Finals, RC Ep. 94 is here! It's our first chance to begin diagnosing the problems that led to pre-playoff exits for Vancouver and Portland, along with all you could ever ask for about #SEAvCOL.

Just in time for the derby, our comprehensive weekly review of everything Cascadia soccer.

Sep 21, 2016

Our Cascadian clubs will each face their biggest tests of the season in the next week, with all three playing in vital matches that will help decide playoff positioning, CCL advancement, and Cascadia Cup. We've got all the latest news and updates from around the region, tune in to Ep. 92 and gret ready for the week that'll determine how we remember 2016 (probably).

Sep 2, 2016

The gang discuss a monster four-goal first half from the Portland Timbers in last weekend's Cascadia derby. In our Whitecaps segment this week, we highlight the struggles of Pedro Morales and prognosticate on his future. The international break makes it a light week for us in the studio, but not for the six Cascadians who got called up to their respective national teams!

Aug 28, 2016

Seattle felled Portland 3-1 at CenturyLink Field last weekend, but now the sides meet again at Providence Park with even more on the line. Sounders sit just a point back of the last playoff spot in the West, occupied by (you guessed it) the Timbers. Will Portland shake off two straight losses and return to climbing up the table, or will Seattle complete their meteoric worst-to-first playoffs?

14:45 - Whitecaps News: Two wildly different results against SKC and a trip to LA. Fun fun.

34:30 - Sounders @ Houston Review + Derby Preview: Portland v Seattle

Aug 19, 2016

It's derby week in Cascadia as the Portland Timbers travel to play the Seattle Sounders. The reigning MLS Cup champs downed Seattle 3-1 in Portland a month ago in a comfortable victory, but much has changed in the time since. Will Nico Lodeiro light up a packed CenturyLink Field against his new arch-rival? Or will Diego Valeri outclass everyone else on the field, as he did back in July with a stunning two goal performance? Get hyped for the derby with RC Ep. 88.

Aug 12, 2016

A couple of CCL wins, a wild 3-0 decision for Portland over SKC and a cathartic 3-1 road win for Seattle gave the RC crew plenty to discuss this week. It looks as though our three clubs will compete amongst a group of five for the last two playoff spots in the West -- get a leg up on the competition with Ep. 87!

Playlist:

0:00:00 - Timbers Review: CCL win, 3 points & <30% possession, and Valeri v Giovinco

Aug 5, 2016

Full CCL group previews for both the Whitecaps and Timbers headline Ep. 86, and the crew also take some time to discuss the small matter of the coaching change in Seattle. In a massive double-length episode no stone is left unturned as the transfer window closes and a busy August begins!

Playlist:

0:00:00 - Whitecaps: Where should Giles Barnes play?

0:34:00 - Sounders: Sigi, Schmetzer, Lodeiro & whatnot; Are Seattle still planning on making the playoffs?

1:06:00 - Timbers: Transfers, transfers, transfers! Now say the new LB's name three times fast; All-Star ridicule; Which Cascadia club won the transfer window?

Jul 14, 2016

You were probably just starting to think we weren't coming back! That's not an option for us when derby day approaches, and so the crew was back in-studio this week to get prepped for Seattle-Portland at Providence Park on Sunday.

Andrew Harvey of Sportspress Northwest and Ari Liljenwall of MLSsoccer.com join as co-hosts for the first time as we explore all the latest stories in Cascadia. What will it take for Seattle to run their season around? Is Lucas Melano a bust? How excited should we be by Vancouver's two new Canadian signings? We hit these questions and many more before getting to our derby preview coverage.

All Cascadia, all the time. Only here on RC!

May 22, 2016

It's only been three weeks since Vancouver toppled Portland at BC Place, but Cascadia derby week is upon us once more as the Caps make the trip away to Providence Park. This time the Timbers have everything to play for with a chance at redemption and a great opportunity to break in on the Cascadia cup standings. On this week's episode the crew break down Portland and Vancouver's recent results and take a hard look at every angle of the much anticipated Cascadian clash.

May 10, 2016

It's been a very exciting week in Cascadia as derby week wraps up to the delight of Vancouver fans everywhere - and Seattle fans are not left out of the celebration as the Sounders take all 6 points in their two consecutive home matches. Unfortunately the week's trials don't end there as both Vancouver and Portland travel away for midweek clashes against Chicago and Dallas respectively, and Seattle travel away later this weekend. We've got all the coverage and analysis in this very episode of Radio Cascadia.

Playlist:

00:00 - Vancouver's Cascadia Derby review with Aaron Campbell and preview away at Chicago

21:55 - Portland post derby analysis and looking ahead to Dallas away

Apr 29, 2016

The Western Conference table still sees our clubs near the bottom, but the results are starting to get better! Vancouver upset FC Dallas 3-0 at BC Place over the weekend, and followed it up with a strong draw down a man to SKC on Wednesday. Meanwhile, after an 11 day break the Timbers drew 1-1 at New England. They now face a visit from their former captain Will Johnson along with the rest of a star-studded TFC roster on Sunday at Providence Park. Seattle dropped a 3-1 decision at Colorado, but have a chance to right the ship with a home match against struggling Columbus this weekend.

On this week's edition, we discuss how the younger components of Seattle's 4-3-3 have hampered its effectiveness, Vancpuver's problem with strikers and goals, and the key to a successful Timbers counter attack. That's not to mention previews of all 3 of this weekend's Cascadia-versus-Eastern-Conference games!

Three losses, three draws, and only one win in the past matchweeks make for strange and uncomfortable implications as our Cascadian teams settle into their regular season rhythm. In this week's episode of Radio Cascadia we discuss what all of these games mean, what they look like for their playoff run ins in current form, and in what areas we can diagnose our teams lukewarm results. On this episode we also feature a discussion on the state of MLS officiating, how it's changing rapidly, and what to expect in the coming seasons.

1-1-1 went our clubs this past weekend. Seattle picked up their first win of the season, Vancouver earned a point the hard way after losing Laba to a red card, and Portland lamented wide back play and missed opportunities in a 4-1 loss at Orlando. Sam Reda joins the show to discuss the Timbers' loss, Aaron Campbell goes on one heck of a tirade about the officiating in the league this year so far.

Everyone lost 2-1 last week. It's still early, so things aren't dire on Ep. 78, but we aren't exactly gushing about our clubs right now either.

On the bright side, it's the first Derby Week of 2016 and we have previews from both the Seattle and Vancouver perspectives. This is the week that kick starts soccer in Cascadia. The question this week is, among 0-2 clubs, who gets the kick start?
