Michael McColl of AFTN joins Ari, Jackson and Steven to discuss Vancouver's 2017 Canadian Championship prospects and an important league game against DC over the weekend.

The group ponders whether Sounders' victory over RSL marked a step forward, or more of the same.

Prost Portland Editor Matt Hoffman calls in to shed light on Portland's 4-1 loss in Montreal, and then helps us take a look at the first Seattle-Portland derby of the year.

A derby, a domestic cup, top notch analysis and some pizza. It's all in Ep. 113, tune in and get ready for a big week of action in Cascadia.

May 17, 2017

The gang sits down to discuss the roughest week of 2017 to date for our clubs, with two losses on the road and a measly home draw with an expansion club for us to chew over. We ponder where the Timbers fit in the front four in the West, take our first look at Bernie Ibini, and start to wonder if any heat will develop for Brian Schmetzer in an action-packed Ep. 111. Our clubs didn't come through for us this week, but we came through for you!

Apr 28, 2017

The RC crew opens up a jam-packed week of Cascadian soccer news by reviewing last weekend's derby between Vancouver and Portland. Why did the Whitecaps start so slow again? What did we learn about Timbers' bench? Is Montero the biggest figure in Cascadia now? We hit these questions and more as we discuss our second rivalry game of 2017.

Player salaries were released this week, and we go over the biggest steals and worst blunders on two of our clubs' rosters. (We'll take a look at Seattle next week on Ep. 109!) Can you guess how many CM's the Whitecaps are paying 6-figure salaries to? We couldn't!

The big stadium news out of Portland gets plenty of attention. We go over its artistic merits and what it means for the future of the club.

Lastly, with Radio Cascadia Live off this weekend, we both review Sounders' big 3-0 win in LA and preview their upcoming match with New England. Along with Portland's blockbuster trip to Dallas and Vancouver's to Montreal, we have three great games to get ready for before a massive Saturday slate of Cascadian soccer in Week 9.

Derbies, Shield races, CCL Semifinals... All the best of MLS is happening in Cascadia - come check it out on RC!

Apr 22, 2017

It's another big week in Cascadia! We get our second derby of the season as Vancouver travel south to Portland, while Seattle make the trip out to LA to face the Galaxy. For the Whitecaps, it's a chance to extend their lead in their defense of the Cascadia Cup. For Portland, a chance to continue sitting atop the Supporter's Shield standings. And for Seattle, it's an opportunity to finally get their misfiring offense on track.

Hear all the latest and greatest from the best region in MLS, only here on Radio Cascadia!

Apr 12, 2017

It's the moment we eagerly wait for from December until April -- the first Cascadia Derby of the season! Seattle travels to Vancouver this Friday in a match up littered with talking points. Beyond being a contest between the reigning Cascadia Cup & MLS Cup holders, it's the first time Sounders will play against their all-time leading goal-scorer Fredy Montero.

Meanwhile in Portland, the Timbers are casually leading the Supporter's Shield race a month into the season. Prost Portland editor Matt Hoffman joins us to discuss their big win in Philly last weekend, and to preview their high-profile home tie with SKC this Friday.

We do this for the derbies, and now we've got one in 2017! Come get ready for Cascadia soccer with RC.

PLAYLIST:

05:55 - Timbers talk with Matt Hoffman

20:22 - Sounders @ Earthquakes review

27:55 - Whitecaps @ RSL review

35:45 - Cascadia Derby preview: Whitecaps v Sounders

Apr 8, 2017

Review of Vancouver's CCL Semifinal second leg with Tigres is the focus of the first half of the show. We analyze their lineup decisions from Saturday, turning points on Wednesday, and ticket prices.

Timbers discussion centers on their draw with New England. We ponder what could've led to a second goal before Nguyen's equalizer before moving on to discuss Portland's next trip to the east coast. This weekend's match at Philadelphia offers a great chance for the Timbers to bounce back from two straight winless matches, and to prove to the league that their road woes are truly over.

Seattle's high-profile home draw against Atlanta featured several season debuts for young players, and we rate their performance in our Sounders segment. Our takes on the Derlis Gonzalez transfer rumors follow before we close out Ep. 105.

All Cascadia, all the time -- come check out this week's edition of the premier pacific northwest soccer podcast.

The crew welcomes in Prost Portland editor Matt Hoffman to discuss Portland's 3-2 loss in Columbus after opening the episode with a touch of national team coverage. Hoffman provides insights on how Guzman's absence affected the Timbers last weekend, and on how he believes Portland will fare at home against New England this coming Sunday.

This week's Sounders segment focuses on analyzing Atlanta United and their potent front six ahead of their first-ever MLS clash in Seattle on Friday. Josef Martinez is out injured for the expansion side, but will veteran striker Kenwyne Jones be able to step and fill the void? A short exclusive with Harry Shipp following Seattle's 1-1 friendly match draw with Club Necaxa also appears.

Vancouver are set to host yet another match altered by their CCL ambitions, and our preview of their upcoming match with LA Galaxy focuses on ways to conserve energy for next Tuesday's CCL Semifinal 2nd leg.

Mar 22, 2017

Review of the previous week is the focus of Ep. 103.

Vancouver dropped their CCL Semifinal 1st leg 2-0 at Tigres. The massive Tuesday game in Monterrey kicked off a slate of four matches in MLS Week 3 for our clubs stretching from Tuesday to Sunday.

Whitecaps took a disappointing 2-0 home loss against Canadian rival Toronto FC on Saturday before Portland and Seattle put on a pair of shows.

First Timbers overcame a 2-1 halftime deficit in a battle of unbeatens with Houston, storming back for a convincing 4-2 victory. We debate whether or not Portland are the top side in MLS right now.

In the league's lone Sunday match of the week, Seattle dropped their title banner and handed NY Red Bulls their first loss of the season. Joevin Jones, Nico Lodeiro and Jordan Morris all contributed as Sounders won their first home game of the season.

Preview for the next week focuses on Portland's match at Columbus, a rematch of MLS Cup 2015.

Mar 14, 2017

The second weekend of the 2017 MLS season was an odd one for Cascadia. Seattle came from 2-0 down in the last ten minutes to draw against the Impact on a concrete-like surface in Montreal, and that was the least eventful of the region's games!

Portland downed LA at the StubHub Center in a match altered by a questionable red card and heavily affected by injury.

Meanwhile, Vancouver nearly broke their winless streak in San Jose in another match undone by a dismissal. The Whitecaps took a 2-0 lead on 17' but David Ousted's red card on 23' changed the complexion of the game. The Earthquakes stormed back for three straight goals in the highest scoring (and most painful) Cascadia fixture of the weekend.

We have all the analysis on these three bonkers matches, not to mention a massive preview of Vancouver's CCL Semifinal first leg against Tigres on Tuesday. We scout the opposition, set up the tactics, and try to assemble a path to the Final for the Whitecaps.

Previews of Seattle's home opener with NY Red Bull and Portland's big showdown with Houston also follow in a 90-minute long edition of Radio Cascadia.

Come get hyped for this CCL Semifinal with us, as Cascadia is again tested on the highest of stages!

2 years, 9 months and 1 week after our first episode, Radio Cascadia hits triple digits. It's a great time to do it as well, seeing as the 2017 MLS season kicks off this week!

We quickly set aside our centennial celebrations in favor of season previews for each Cascadian club. Predictions follow for Western Conference standings, Golden Boot contenders, and of course the Cascadia Cup.

Special attention is paid to Vancouver's CCL Quarterfinal tie with NY Red Bulls, which brought us our first competitive game of the season. We have a whopping four matches to discuss in this busy week, and that's before we even get to Keisuke Honda in Seattle or Brek Shea in Vancouver!

Soccer's back in Cascadia and we're buzzing about it. Come celebrate our special day with us and get ready for opening weekend at the same time!

Real soccer is back in Cascadia! Here in time for the big match, RC Ep. 99 features a full preview of the first competitive match of the year. As a very short handed Whitecaps face a tough CCL Quarterfinal first leg at New York, we ponder what it'll take for them to come away with a result. Meanwhile Seattle & Portland are wrapping up their preparations for the upcoming MLS campaign, the former in Charleston and the latter flying to LA this weekend.

Feb 15, 2017

Ah, it's Valentine's Day in Cascadia.

There's no love lost in the region on the holiday this year as Fredy Montero's rumored shock loan move to Vancouver makes waves throughout the league. The former Sounders DP forward left MLS for Portugal after 2013 as the all-time leading goal scorer in Seattle, and now it looks like the Cascade King may be back to win a few more derbies. This time it's in Rain City white and blue, though, and that brings an almost absurd amount of drama to this move. You just couldn't make this one up.

In case that wasn't enough, Vancouver and Portland are set to contest their Simple Invitational finale against each other in a preseason tie that has already seen matches fall apart and careers altered in its history. Will this ill-fated fixture draw the excitement it has in years past? Will both rosters make it out unscathed?

Before we get to all of the lover's spats here in Cascadia, Ep. 98 starts with a 20 minute-long discussion on the Video Assisted Referees (VARs) system that MLS will experiment with this season.

On a more serious note Peter Czimmermann, President and Secretary of the Vancouver Southsiders supporters group, joins the show for the first time since Ep. 12 (Oct. 10, 2014) to discuss his organization's new travel decision in relation to the executive order on immigration recently signed in the United States.

It's a fitting week for 2017 soccer to heat up. Skip Valentine's Day dinner with your boo and get your fix of passion in this remarkably apt edition of Radio Cascadia!

Feb 1, 2017

Preseason soccer is back in Cascadia! As two of our clubs hit the field in Arizona (and the third in far-off Wales), RC Ep. 97 has all of latest news on rosters, transactions and matches across the region.

Resident Timbers expert Ed Pham makes his first appearance at the new KJR studio, just in time for Portland to (maybe) land perhaps the biggest signing in club history. The group debates on the scope of Blanco's impact, should he make the jump stateside.

Seattle made their first big international splash of the offseason, bringing in Swedish midfielder Gustav Svensson from Guangzhou R&F of the CSL. The rumors about Hiroshi Kiyotake's arrival are starting to dim and it's becoming easier to take a coherent view of Sounders' roster.

The same can't be said of the Vancouver Whitecaps, but at least they started adding to their squad this week with the signing of Peruvian international Yordy Reyna from RB Salzburg. The 'Caps have a lot of work to do before their CCL tie with NYRB in only several weeks' time, can they sort their immense playmaking and size issues in the final third before then? A 4-0 preseason victory over Oxford United provides a much-needed bright spot.

Radio Cascadia is back with our first episode of 2017! Featuring new host Jackson Felts, the group takes in the sights at their swanky new studio and even find a bit of time to talk about soccer. With the SuperDraft in the books and big-name signings swirling around, there's something important happening in every corner of Cascadia! Come listen in to Ep. 96 to get our takes on Portland's free agent signings, all of Seattle's departures and even the half-roster of the Whitecaps!

Dec 8, 2016

For the second year in a row, the Radio Cascadia crew are privileged enough to be previewing an MLS Cup Final. This year it's Seattle and Toronto, live from BMO Field on Saturday night at 5pm PST. Sounders will look to cap off their remarkable 2016 turnaround with their first postseason crown. We break the match down unit by unit, and forecast who has the edge in what could be the first-ever snowy MLS Cup!

Not to forget the rest of Cascadia, we begin Ep. 95 with a discussion on Vancouver's preseason plans, and another on the new roster rules affecting Canadian players unveiled recently by MLS. Portland dropped their preseason schedule, too, and we analyze it as well. We forget to mention how awesome the new home kit looks, so we'll have to save that for next week.

For now, the focus is on keeping the biggest prize in American soccer right here in Cascadia!

Seattle felled Portland 3-1 at CenturyLink Field last weekend, but now the sides meet again at Providence Park with even more on the line. Sounders sit just a point back of the last playoff spot in the West, occupied by (you guessed it) the Timbers. It's derby week in Cascadia as the Portland Timbers travel to play the Seattle Sounders. The reigning MLS Cup champs downed Seattle 3-1 in Portland a month ago in a comfortable victory, but much has changed in the time since.
